Default Spy photos reveal details of 2015 Mustang

NBC was able to capture spy photos of the 2015 Ford Mustang. Even with the Mustang disguised, a few details were able to be revealed.

Quote:
Itís no secret that Ford is planning to throw a big party celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang when it rolls off the line next year. But what has remained a secret is what the 2015 Mustang looks like.

Until now.

Our spies captured images of the elusive 2015 Mustang model that reveal some details, even though the car is covered from front to rear. Ford is expected to unveil the all-new design some time in 2014.

Up front are headlight openings that indicate the lamps are set high on the front fenders, not down low in the grille. At the rear, taillights are set higher in the trunk. The wheels with the five split-spoke appearance appear to be new.

An opening in the canvas just above the front wheel opening indicates some kind of air exhaust, a feature never seen on Mustangs. Although we canít see the rear suspension, the í15 model reportedly offers an independent rear setup, which is a first for the Mustang.

Ford has been hinting that the í15 model will make its debut at the 2014 New York International Auto Show. After decades leading the pack in the muscle car segment, Mustang has been tripped up by the Chevrolet Camaro during recent times. Chevrolet hoped to widen that sales gap by introducing a freshened Camaro, including an SS model, during the New York International Auto Show earlier this month. That puts even more pressure on Ford to get it right when it launches the next-generation Mustang.

Some new styling cues can be detected despite Ford's efforts to hide this 2015 Ford Mustang.
A New York International Auto Show introduction would bring the car full circle, in a sense, as Ford revealed the first coupe on April 17, 1964, just a few days before it made its official debut at the 1964 New York Worldís Fair. It was an instant hit, helping land Fordís car design guru, Lee Iacocca, on the covers of Timeand Newsweek.

The first of the ďpony cars,Ē Mustang was an instant hit. More than 8.5 million Mustangs have been sold during the iconís nearly 50-year run.

ďNot too many vehicles have been around for 49 years,Ē said David Pericak, Mustangís chief engineer, during a recent event marking the one millionth Mustang built at Fordís Flat Rock, Mich. facility. ďItís more than a car. Itís an icon. Itís been in rock and roll songs and a star in movies,Ē he added, and has been a major success at the track.Ē

Introduced as a 1964-1/2 model, the first Ford Mustang was available for as little as $2,368 (that would be equivalent to $17,780 today). Ironically, while the galloping horse has been the image Ford associated with the original Mustang, the carís original designer, John Najjar, was a fan of the most successful fighter plane of World War II, the P-51 Mustang. Company officials liked the name but thought the equine image was more appropriate.

The fast-looking coupe wasnít nearly as spirited as it appeared, however, with its compact, 170-cubic-inch engine and three-speed manual transmission. That would soon change as the automaker rolled out an increasingly powerful series of engine packages and, in subsequent years, a procession of new bodies.

Well one observation is the basic form won't be too drastically different from current Mustangs. If that really the new design hiding under there

Seems like these might be the wheels available on the high trim level 4 cylinder turbo mustang or even the V6 model. BTW look at all that wheel gap, looks like this mustang test mule will need a good 2 foot drop LOL

They ain't playing around now I am starting to believe that they are making big changes to the exterior design. Good eye Goonter I was just about to point that out since its the only thing we can actually see without a canvas covering it. i think the biggest changes will be in the front and rear.

found some good news on Ford's idea of how the new Mustang should look and after reading the following statement I really can't wait to see what it will look like. Going to be tough designing the S550 Mustang.

“The challenge or the opportunity for 2014 with a 50th anniversary car is to not just look back over your shoulder, but to try to win all of the Mustang faithful yet bring the brand forward as well,” he said. “It has to look like a Mustang. But you go down a list of things that might or might not be necessary to make the car look like a Mustang.”

I think in the end no matter what that this new model that every one is calling it for its euro looks will turn out good and still hold the mustang heritage. There will be still mustang styling cues incorporated in there somewhere.

The black rims on the right are probably the performance pack rims for the mustang. i like it. I think it would go nice with a lighter colored car like white or silver to have that contrast look.

I was just thinking that, there's no way it could be available on anything else lower, if it's actually on a performance pack what else do you think this performance pack will consist of?
